The Wailuku Standing
Our weekly subscription shape. Heliconia and ti in a tall narrow vessel, built to read from across a lobby.
$85per week, delivered
Wailuku, Maui
Protea, heliconia, orchid and ti, cut on this island and built into shapes that hold. Weddings, welcomes, and ordinary Tuesdays.
The standing collection
Every arrangement is cut to order the morning it leaves. Stem counts shift with what the farms picked, the structure never does.
Our weekly subscription shape. Heliconia and ti in a tall narrow vessel, built to read from across a lobby.
$85per week, delivered
Dendrobium orchid, pincushion and lauaʻe fern in a hand-thrown bowl. Sits below eye level so a table can still hold a conversation.
From $65vessel included
Wrapped in kraft and raffia, no vessel. What we send when the gesture matters more than the furniture it lands on.
From $72same day, island-wide
Monstera, ti and lauaʻe with no bloom at all. Ordered most by restaurants and offices that repaint their walls white.
From $48refreshed fortnightly
The bench
Pick the occasion and watch the bench change. This is genuinely how we work: the reason for the flowers sets the structure, the structure sets the stems, and the stems set the price.
An asymmetric arch that leans off the altar rather than framing it squarely. Built on site the morning of, taken down by us the same night.
$2,400and up, install included
Booked 4 to 9 months out. One wedding per weekend.
What we leave on the counter of a rental before guests land. Low, round, scented, and short enough to sit under a kitchen cabinet.
$95delivered and placed
Property managers book these on a standing list.
White and green only, laid wide and low so it reads gently across a room. We deliver to the church or the house, never both without asking.
From $140delivered on the day
Call the studio directly. We hold same-day space for these.
Whatever came in best that morning, loose in a recycled jar. No structure, no ceremony. Pick it up at the studio or add it to a delivery run.
$32studio pickup
Add $12 for delivery anywhere on the Wailuku to Paia run.
Weddings and events
That is the whole policy. It means the person who drew your arch is the person standing on the ladder at 6am, and the person who comes back at 10pm to take it down.
The studio
Bloom & Basalt started in 2016 in a converted garage off Market Street with one cooler and a standing order from a Wailuku law office. It is still a small operation on purpose. Three of us, one van, one bench.
We buy from six growers between Kula and Haʻikū and we say so out loud, because the alternative is boxes of roses flown 2,500 miles to sit in a bucket. If a stem is not growing on Maui this month, it is not going in your arrangement.
Delivery
One van, two runs a day. Order by 11am for same-day on the central and upcountry routes. West and south side go out on the afternoon run.
Flat $12 island-wide. Hāna and Kaupō by arrangement, and only for weddings.
They talked us out of the arch we asked for and drew a better one on the back of an order pad. It was the right call and it cost us less.
Twelve rentals, one standing order, four years. The posy is on the counter before the guests are off the plane and I have never once had to call about it.
Visit or order
The bench is open to walk-ins Tuesday through Saturday. Weddings and standing orders are booked by phone or email, not by form, because the first question is always a conversation.
